A Strategy Session to Confront the Global Surge to the Right
The global women’s movement today navigates a political landscape tilting dramatically to the right. The evidence can be seen in the Brexit vote, the organized right-wing opposition to the Colombia peace agreement, the presidential impeachment in Brazil, the US election results and beyond. Human rights protections and institutions are under renewed assault, threatening gains for gender justice.
Join us for a critical opportunity to confront this crisis and forge solutions through strategic exchange among women’s rights advocates from around the world.
This event will marshal the expertise of women’s rights advocates working to confront different facets of the crisis. Panelists will analyze the threats of right-wing populism and authoritarian government and offer ideas and strategies to navigate the backlash against women’s human rights. Combining their distinct but complementary perspectives, panelists will reveal the scope and trajectory of the crisis and clarify avenues for action to defend and continue to advance rights.
