KOLKATA: 125 schools in Bengal have been accused of promoting religious intolerance and served notice by the state government.
Of them, 96 do not have a certificate from the government, said Education Minister Partha Chatterjee
He said a website of the RSS claims the organization is running 300 schools in the state. 125 of these were reportedly listed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“This is the first phase of the investigation. We are identifying those schools and if they are teaching on the lines of religious doctrines, they will be stopped,” said the minister.
The schools served notice are reportedly run by private trusts that the ruling Trinamool Congress alleges are linked to the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological mentor of the BJP.
