Islamist ideology must be terminated and Islam must be reformed - Maajid Nawaz
Published on Feb 4, 2017
From the "Islam in a Secular Democracy" session of the National Secular Society’s 2016 conference in London on September 3, 2016.
Maajid Nawaz argues there is historical precedent for Islamic secularism (separation of religion & state) and Islamic reform. He also criticizes the Regressive Left, who don’t understand (or refuse to recognize) the difference between muslim apologists and muslim reformers.
Maajid Nawaz is a former islamist-turned-reformer. He is co-founder of Quilliam Foundation, the "world’s first counter-extremism think tank". He campaigns for liberalism, secularism, counter-extremism, and islamic reform. He is author of "Radical: My Journey out of Islamist Extremism" and co-author (with Sam Harris) of "Islam and the Future of Tolerance".
