Lock Him Up! Controversial Florida megachurch Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of The River Church has been arrested for demonstrating a “reckless disregard for human life” after holding Sunday services in violation of county orders calling for social distancing.

NBC News reports:

A Tampa Bay area pastor has been arrested following two large services at his church over the weekend.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister says he has made the decision Sunday night to seek an arrest warrant against the pastor of River at Tampa Bay Church for violating social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

10 News reports:

An arrest warrant for a Tampa Bay pastor was issued Monday, and the pastor was taken into custody, after the sheriff said the church violated a countywide “safer-at-home” order.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said the River at Tampa Bay Church violated the county’s order related to large gatherings and social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. A live stream from the church on Sunday showed the building packed with worshipers.

Earlier today Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister announced that Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was wanted on an arrest warrant after flaunting social distancing orders by holding two large services on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference Sheriff Chronister said Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne “repeatedly” violated social distancing orders from the CDC and local authorities, noting:

His reckless disregard for human life put hundreds of people in his congregation at risk and thousands of residents who may interact with them this week in danger.

Earlier this week Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne promised he would continue holding church services because he has 13 magic machines that will “shoot down” and “neutralize” the coronavirus.

Previously the pastor mocked the coronavirus pandemic, claiming that his church will never close “because we’re raising up revivalists, not pansies.”

Bottom line: Demonstrating a “reckless disregard for human life,” controversial Florida megachurch Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of The River Church has been arrested after holding Sunday services in violation of county orders calling for social distancing.

Anne Graham Lotz: COVID-19 is Great Since It May Trigger a “Spiritual Revival”

By Hemant Mehta

March 30, 2020

Anne Graham Lotz, the nuttier sibling of bigoted evangelist Franklin Graham, sees the COVID-19 cup as half-full because the pandemic could lead people back to Jesus.

Could the silver lining in the black cloud of the coronavirus be this? That it causes America to look up and listen to what God has to say, and therefore becomes the trigger for a national spiritual revival? May it be so!

Sure, more than 1,600 people have died in the United States (so far), but no body count is too high if it means a few desperate people turn to God in a time of crisis, right?

Lotz is as insane as the Republican who celebrates the virus because some states are shutting down abortion clinics as “non-essential services” in response.

She forgets that Christians, too, will suffer because of the virus. How many will say “God doesn’t exist” because of all the death and destruction caused by COVID-19? None of that seems to matter.

No amount of human suffering matters to people hell-bent on adding more tallies to their conversion count.
