STATEMENT

After the citizens’ rally in Belgrade square Cvetni trg, the banner bearing the message “We will not forget the genocide in Srebrenica” was forcibly seized from Women in Black tonight and burned in public.

Messages of non-violence, solidarity and anti-fascism were sent from the rally, and when the citizens dispersed, hooligans, who behave like the rulers of this city - followed members of Women in Black on the way to their homes, snatched the banner from them and set it on fire in public.

This is a direct consequence of Vulin’s equating of hooligans and human rights activists, which is a clear signal to the bullies that they can do whatever they want.

The police stand by the hooligans both with their words and deeds, instead of adhering to the law, and do not guarantee security citizens.

The initiative always stands in solidarity with Women in Black.

We will never forget the genocide in Srebrenica!
