  Progressive versions of Islam have several typical characteristics. The most important of these is that they view the Qur’an historically, arguing that rules which applied in the time of the Prophet can (and should) be reinterpreted today in the light of changing circumstances. This is the opposite of the Islamist view that the Qur’an should be read literally and ahistorically, and that its message is unchanging and applicable to all times and places. Progressive Muslims also tend to reject the authority of the hadith — collections of sayings and deeds attributed to the Prophet which have formed the basis for much extra-Qur’anic rule-making over the centuries. In addition to that, they usually reject sharia in the form it is traditionally practised and favour a secular state.

Si configura l’esercizio di un diritto fondamentale, riconosciuto dalla dichiarazione internazionale sui diritti umani. È chi impedisce con la forza l’esercizio di quel diritto a commettere un crimine, non chi lo esercita. È un’ovvietà, ma con i tempi che corrono ricordarla non è inutile.

At Jagriti publishing house, Faisal Arefin Dipon was killed. At Shuddashar publishers, the owner Ahmedur Rashid Chowdhury, better known as Tutul, was struck with a machete and shot at. But Tutul survived.

  « Ô vous qui croyez, le jeûne vous est prescrit tout comme il a été prescrit à vos devanciers, afin que vous adoptiez la piété. ». Ce verset s’adresse au croyant, je n’en suis pas un, je suis sauvé ! Plus de ramadan pour moi maintenant que je suis athée et que je ne crois plus à toutes ces supercheries. Mais non, je vais devoir jeûner, non par conviction, mais par peur que quelqu’un me dénonce à la police et d’endosser six mois de prison à l’aube de mes dix-sept ans ou de payer une amende qui varie entre 200 et 1000 euro, et même pire, que ma mère sache que je ne jeûne pas.
