USA: Missouri Bill Banning Anonymity of Atheist Plaintiffs in Lawsuits Passes House
14 April 2019, by siawi3A bill that will paint a giant target on atheists’ backs for any Christian vigilante who wants to attack them has just passed the Missouri State House. It’s not just atheists at risk here. Billington would be targeting progressive Christians and members of minority faiths as well. If this bill passes, people could get killed. That’s not hyperbole. Christian threats are very, very real.

Kuwait: Death threats over free speech. Muslims in Canada respond.
15 December 2013, by siawi3Earlier this week, the Kuwaiti parliament voted to institute the death penalty against any Muslim who is judged by Islamic clerics to have insulted God. Today in Toronto, a group of Muslims are going to say “Enough is enough.†They will honour a 21st century Muslim reformer in the name of a 10th century Muslim rebel who died for speaking the truth: the celebrated and controversial Canadian author Irshad Manji will receive the first “Mansoor Hallaj Freedom of Speech Award†by the Muslim Canadian Congress. Hallaj was a Persian mystic Sufi saint who had rebelled against the hierarchy of the Sufi Orders and had taken his message to the masses, making enemies in high places. He was beheaded after refusing to recant. Since that day, no Muslim group has dared celebrate the man who died for the truth. Except today in Toronto when Irshad Manji receives the award named after the 10th century Sufi saint. Join us this evening at the Toronto Library on Palmerston St. as we stand tall in the face of medieval madness.

Morocco: Threats to atheist
13 December 2013, by siawi3The last email the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain received from 22 year old Imad Iddine Habib, the founder of the Council of Ex-Muslims of Morocco (the first atheist organisation in a country with Islam as a state religion), spoke of more threats and a final warning from the Moroccan government.

North America: Why Ex-Muslims need a safe-space
26 November 2013, by siawi3It seems the secular community at large is unaware of the troubles Ex-Muslims face. On a very frequent basis, we at EXMNA come across or are notified about people from Muslim backgrounds living in dire situations in North America. Many Ex-Muslims come from families, communities, and cultures where they are in danger of being physically and emotionally abused — and that’s if they haven’t already endured that.

Here is why Sharia Law has no place in Britain or elsewhere
26 November 2013, by siawi3I was recently interviewed by Channel 4’s 4thought.tv programme about my opinions on ’What does Sharia Law have to offer Britain’. I realised that I was the only one out of seven people interviewed that was clearly against Sharia and for a secular state. My interview has triggered a debate in the Sudanese media, both at home and in the diaspora, from which campaigns have emerged inciting people against me calling me a ’Kafira’ (infidel) and ’Murtadda’ (left Islam) .
I believe this is everyone’s battle, including progressive, secular and liberal Muslims. The right to live, think and express freely your opinions is one of the great achievements of human civilization. These values belong to all of us regardless of our background or geographical regions. We cannot limit these achievements to ’western values’ or ’cultural sensitivity’. -

Still fighting indoctrination
29 December 2017, by siawi3Years of indoctrination and brainwashing do have a lifelong impact. It becomes a never-ending internal battle to counter years of conditioning.
