Indonesia: Court drops blaphemy case against Jakarta former Governor, still guilty of insulting individual Muslims
21 April 2017, by siawi3Ahok’s political rival defeated him in the Jakarta gubernatorial election by riding a wave of growing religious conservatism. Prosecutors decided to drop blasphemy charges against him; they could not prove Ahok had insulted Islam as a whole, but only individual Muslims who believed that Surah Al Maidah 51 instructed them not to choose non-Muslims as leaders... However, prosecutors demanded a two years’ probation if found guilty of violating Article 156 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on showing animosity toward others.

Myanmar refugees’ forced repatriation
18 November 2018, by siawi3More than 700,000 Rohingya have fled across the border to Bangladesh after a campaign of violence in Rakhine state in August 2017, described by a recent UN fact-finding mission as genocide, was carried out by the Myanmar military and some Buddhist Rakhine people against the Muslim minority.
